DENVER (AP) — Mark Kelly, the husband of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, is scheduled to be in Denver today to testify in support of at least one of the seven gun-control bills being considered by the Colorado Legislature.

Eileen McCarron, president of the Colorado Ceasefire Capitol Fund, tells The Denver Post that Kelly will speak in support of a House bill that requires all private gun sales and transfers to be subject to a background check.

Kelly has testified before Congress in support of gun control measures. Giffords was shot in the head in January 2011 in Arizona. She was one of 13 people injured. Six people were killed.
